Inaugural Community Partner of the Year Awards
Breakfast a Huge Success

We had a great turnout at our inaugural awards and fundraising breakfast at the Paramount Plaza Hotel and Convention Center in Gainesville. The success of this event would not have been possible without our sponsors and community partners who help make our communities in Alachua, Levy, and Marion Counties better places to live. Information regarding recipients of the Freddie L. Warmack Community Partner of the Year Award and a list of the generous sponsors are listed below. Mary Wise, University of Florida Women’s Head Volleyball Coach, was the keynote speaker. She spoke on the importance of public, private, nonprofit, faith-based and educational entities working together in advocating for economic opportunity for everyone and especially in creating an atmosphere of hope for a better tomorrow for America’s children.

John Edwards, Executive Director, Northeast Florida Community Action Agency and former Chair of both the Community Action Partnership in Washington and the Florida Association for Community Action in Tallahassee, was a special guest speaker. He spoke about “The Promise of Community Action” and the importance of addressing the factors which are causing poverty to remain a significant problem in America today.
