Weatherization Assistance Program

The Weatherization Assistance Program provides home energy measures for low-income families in Alachua, Levy and Marion Counties. The mission of this program is to reduce energy costs for low-income families, particularly for the elderly and the disabled, by improving the energy efficiency of their homes while ensuring their health and safety.

Eligible Applicants

To qualify the total household income may not be more than 200 percent of the national poverty level.

Priority is given to:
  • LIHEAP repeat recipients
  • elderly (60+ years)
  • physically disabled residents
  • families with children under 12
  • households with a high energy burden (repeated high utility bills)

Types of Assistance Offered

All homes must be evaluated to determine possible services:

  • Thresholds
  • Weather stripping
  • Replacement of windows and doors
  • Caulking
  • Repair or replace water heaters, heating and cooling units
  • Installation of solar sun screens
  • Minor wall, floor and ceiling repairs
